Hey friends! It’s been a while since our last update. We had a fantastic and busy May with festival performances at Orwell Bluegrass (Suffolk) and the inaugural Crossover festival in Cheshire. They both went really well and we particularly enjoyed Crossover as the festival organisers were our very own Julie Cross (bass) and her daughters Eleanor Wilkie (fiddle) and Emily Cross (occasional dancer)! They did an absolutely storming job putting on a thoroughly superb festival and it will be back next year on May Bank holiday weekend!
Since then we’ve all been busy with various other creative adventures. With her True North Music promoter hat on, Maria’s been hosting sold-out gigs this summer by bluegrass and old time stars including Foghorn Stringband and Sierra Hull among others. Bruno has been gigging with his other band, superb bluegrass/old time supergroup Hot Rock Pilgrims and Eleanor’s been on double bass duties for one of her other bands, exciting all-female band Midnight Skyracer. Phil and Mark appeared at Dalesfest as one half of The Groovin Brothers, and as well as working on Crossover wrap-up and plans, Julie’s been playing with her folk band Taylor Maid. Phew!
We’re looking forward to getting the gang all together again for two festival gigs this September – Gower Bluegrass Festival on the gorgeous Gower peninsula in South Wales (8-9 Sep) and Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival up in scenic south-west Scotland (22-23 Sep). They’re both lovely friendly festivals and we’re really chuffed to have been invited to perform – check out their websites for more details on the other bands featured and to book your tickets!
